Our research team in the area of Business-Cycle Analyses and Surveys is being expanded to include the following positions:
Doctoral position
Two doctoral candidates will have the chance to earn doctorates under Professor Kai Carstensen and to conduct research on macroeconomic issues (analyses and forecasts) using Ifo survey data (for the first position) and in the area of monetary macroeconomics (for the second position).
All doctoral candidates are expected to present their research results at conferences and as articles in refereed journals.
The successful candidates must have an excellent degree in economics as well as proficiency in English and German. Knowledge in the areas of research (macroeconomics and statistics/economet rics; macroeconomics and monetary policy) as well as the theoretical foundations of economics (especially allocation and welfare theory) are expected. Ability to use econometric software programs (Matlab, Stata, Eviews or R) is advantageous.
The doctoral positions are for half of the normal working hours and pay is according to the German public service pay scale (TV-L) (half of E13). The contract is for an initial two years with the possibility of extending.
